About Us

Hello, I am Caroline & I live with Keith my partner, I loved the location of the cottage & the history of the original buildings (information is at the cottage).

Cotswold Country Cottage Owner

Caroline from Cotswold Country Cottage

I have spent a lot of time creating the ideal place to relax, I wanted to make sure that it would be as I would expect, having had plenty of cottage holiday experience both in UK and abroad. I wanted a place to chill, to have adventures with either family or friends.
For the past 9 years the cottage has been let & if the comments from our guests are anything to go by I have succeeded. My first priority I was adamant about, was we should have very comfortable beds. We wanted a place to appreciate the wonderful scenery & everything I have at home for an easy life. The repeat guests show me its right, so come visit my favourite place, kick off your shoes, grab a glass of wine & take in the view, enjoy.

Why we chose a home in this beautiful location

The property was bought in 2005 mainly for its location, history and the stunning views. It is in an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' which means the land cannot be built upon.
Set in an elevated position on the edge of the 'Royal Forest of Dean' it nestles in a hillside over looking the Severn valley, it is perfect. Having traveled extensively I strongly believe, we in Britain have some of the best scenery in the world and this area has some of the very best. The cottage is an 1830's detached cottage with no near neighbours to mention, but the friendly village of Mitcheldean is only half a mile down the road. The 'White Horse' pub is wonderful and Sandra, Brian and Dan are so welcoming, as are the locals. So if you fancy a old fashioned sing-song or a good 'chinwag' in a typical village pub, this is the place to go.

Unique benefits of the property

There are so many benefits to this property I cannot name them all, so here are a few: The cottage is literally on the doorstep of the Forest of Dean (walk 200m and cross the road) where the walks are simply breathtaking. There plenty of quaint villages within 1 – 5 mile radius.
Monmouth, Chepstow and Cardiff (Wales) are 15, 20, 45 minutes away.
Ross on Wye, Hereford, Gloucester, Bristol (England) 15, 20, 20 and 45 minutes in the other direction. There are some lovely golf courses close to hand as well as horse riding, Llama trekking and adventure parks and biking trails from easy and flat to super advanced, if you like that kind of thing. There is so much for children to do, from toddlers to teenagers its impossible to name them all as the list goes on and on. Also there are great many quality eating places and wonderful pubs for the grown ups. You can have a chilled break or adventures every day, the choice is yours.
